Flintwork in High Wycombe

Flint in High Wycombe and the Chilterns

High Wycombe sits in the Chilterns chalk, so flint here is local material, not an import. You will see field flint, often with brick dressings at corners and openings, on boundary walls, side and rear elevations, and older streetscapes. Colour varies from grey to honey depending on the ground the nodules came from, which is why matching an existing wall starts with the stones themselves. Local design guidance has long treated flint as appropriate for sympathetic new work and repair. From our base here we handle matching, restoration and contemporary knapped flint across town and the surrounding hills.

Typical projects we take on in High Wycombe

• Extending or altering a property where new flint must meet old
• Restoring weathered external flint and replacing hard cement pointing with lime
• Contemporary knapped flint on a new extension or garden/boundary wall
• Coordinating flint detailing with architects and main contractors
