Flintwork in Amersham
Amersham (Old and Metropolitan) sits in Chilterns chalk country. Traditional buildings and boundary walls use flint, often with brick, in random or loosely coursed field flint rather than tight knapped squares. Conservation-minded alterations need that existing finish matched, including mortar colour. New extensions may instead call for a precise knapped face. We provide both, plus lime repointing of existing flint.
Typical projects we take on in Amersham
- Extending or altering a property where new flint must meet old
- Restoring weathered external flint and replacing hard cement pointing with lime
- Contemporary knapped flint on a new extension or garden/boundary wall
- Coordinating flint detailing with architects and main contractors
